Nestled within a London Conservation Area, this Arts and Crafts-inspired new-build is designed as a calm, light-filled, modern family sanctuary.
The home opens into a double-height entrance hall, transitioning into a triple-height, top-lit space towards the rear. Here, an elegant staircase with generous landing bridges spanning across the space on the first and second floors offers long internal vistas across the levels. The steps flow around a central void which extends from the lowest level right up to frameless continuous skylight bands near the ridge. Detailed with solid timber treads, textured brass balustrades, and a timber handrail, this central circulation space, at the heart of the home, connects the ground floor spaces with the private en-suite bedrooms above, before descending into a light-filled, airy basement dedicated to entertainment, games, and ancillary spaces.
The exterior of the main house is built from handmade brick and clay roof tiles. Built with solid construction for high thermal mass, the lasting fabric of the building is highly insulated for optimal comfort. Set within the garden, a timber-clad home gym with a hipped sedum roof completes the project's natural material palette.
